I had looked into Phorum in the past but was nervous about it. It seemed complicated and there didn't seem to be a lot of skins, which is important to me since I run an art-related site and need to have the page look good. I recently returned to Phorum to see they have made a lot of enhancements and have added a ton of templates. I've been using the software for a few weeks and my users are very happy. You can use as-is out of the box, or you can beef it up with that many modules. I'm not a programmer and I don't know a lot about PHP but I was able to create a system that works for me and my site.

I read through all comments made on all the forum applications here. It can get a bit confusing. I installed phpbb to start with but gave up after 2 weeks. I find customization not easy. It does certain things unexpectedly, eg, my css codes got deleted automatically when working via ftp! I lost a whole week of customization! I preserved, hoping to get the hang of it but decided it was not worth my time. One thing I have to say. The forum to get help was fairly good. I turned to Phorum reluctantly. The demo site looks a bit simplistic. By this time, I was getting desperate and needed something quick, easy to learn and customize. To my astonishment Phorum met my needs. There are many mods you could install. Basically, you can just keep adding the features. The other bonus is that the forum is excellent. I get many of my questions answered the following day most of the time. Thumbs up for Phorum.

I have had Phorum installed for about 2 moths now on a small community website and it's brilliant. Don't be put off by the basic look of the demo site it can be tweaked quite easily although a small knowledge of css and HTML helps (as it does with creating any website) for the design. It is stable, fast and the community and support are excellent.

We have been using phpBB for some time and were not quite satisfied with it. Now, having tried your demo here, we are pretty sure that we will be switching to phorum. thanks for the demo, Jimmy

Phorum is an excellent, stable, FAST forum that is able to fit into almost any existing site. Things are really moving lately and version 5.1 has serveral nice features. I highly recommend it!

This is really a research effort to find some user friendly software for online communications.

@Indi The site and the Support Forums was online the whole time. Which URL do you use to connect? http://phorum.org is the correct one.

I love Phorum, it's very simple and elegant. However, the site and all the support forums have been done for weeks, which is really too bad.
