PunBB Description
PunBB is a fast and lightweight PHP-powered discussion board. It is released under the GNU General Public License. Its primary goals are to be faster, smaller and less graphically intensive as compared to other discussion boards. PunBB has fewer features than many other discussion boards, but is generally faster and outputs smaller, semantically correct XHTML-compliant pages.

PunBB is really good, designed for those users who wants a minimal set of features so it works pretty fast, and even you can add any mods easily. The password change protection is great, so you have to 'Activate' the new password before using it, this is a great antispam feature. [b]Fully integration/b] But the great goal for me is that PunBB let me add a unique template to my site and forum in a few easy steps.

I have tried UNB, PHORUM, PUNBB. PUNBB is I real like, Clean, simple, easy to use. I use it for our user support. But when I try to install a module for poll, it turns to nightmare. I tried three time then give up. I don't blame PUNBB since it is not designed to fit everything. Nice forum software.

Not powerful, but good enough, the only thing is UNB does not have Chinese which I have to use. We have to go to PUNBB instead.

Amy, you maybe have to delete you cookies to login. I also had that problem.

Worked real good at first but am having some issues with it. It says my username & password are incorrect but I know they are not. I have yet to get the e-mail that I`m supposed to get when I click on the forgotten password link.

i love the look of this forum and the nice clean CSS code it generates - i use it on a couple of my sites. but it is a complete nightmare to customise, if you want to do anything beyond a few simple tweaks to the CSS! the pages are built on the fly from multiple included templates [which in turn include multiple other templates] and almost everything within the templates seems to be coded using UNB's own templating syntax, which in turn references dozens of other files which define which particular piece of XHTML code each template snippet produces. as a result, doing the simplest task, such as moving a piece of text or an image from one place to another on a page involves an incredibly convoluted procedure involving looking up the text you're seeking in the language definition files, then cross-referencing the resulting language variable in the template definition files to find the appropriate template variable... then looking for that template variable name across dozens of template include files... and when you do find it, it will be embedded in reams of other cryptic tempate code which you then have to disassemble in the opposite direction to try and find out exactly what it does. oh yes - and if you do cock something up - because the software outputs its XHTML wrapped in an XML declaration - you'll usually just get a blank page and your browser complaining about an 'XML parse error' on line [whatever] of the page in question - which, since [as outlined above] each page is built from a multiplicity of nested and cross-calling includes makes troubleshooting the problem almost impossible. so there's no 'suck it and see' tweaking here. your code adjustments will either work or they'll bring the whole house of cards tumbling down about your ears and force you to try something else. again, i'm not 'dissing' the forum software itself - it works great. but if you're the kind of person who likes to tweak things to your own requirements, be prepared to spend many a frustrating hour picking your way through UNB's labarynthine code

I think good for any body like simple forum better than graphical forums. good structures but not good suports.

its a great piece of Software. Like Robert said, its a bit different than the others and not just a copy like the most other Forums. And thats the reason why it is the best for me. There are lots of new ideas and features in UNB. The main reason for me to install this forum was the Jabber/XMPP integration.

I like this and highly recommend it to anybody, simple, fast, easy to install. Perfect!

The best/fastest forum software on the planet...

It's very simple. So simple that some of the normal forum features are not present, like private messaging and many other. I would rather put it into Lite category.

I love punbb. I was using phpbb but started to test other solutions and found punbb to be simple and effective. You will need to add mods for more functionality but the software is very good.

I started an UNB some days ago. UNB is unique has it own way (not a copy of xxx) and is very user AND admin friendly.
