eclime - E-Commerce Jet Engine Comments
Posted By: As of version 1.1.1b, It is the closest thing to magento on May 11 2010 08:39 pm
As of 5/11/10, this tool is emerging into its leadership position among the OSCommerce forks. It works free of bugs, the forum is becoming more active and there some third party contributions already coming along.
It is definitely one to watch.

I have testing this script for over a month now. It is a great addition to the current OsCommerce Forks and is very promising. The development is very active.
Being able to capture back-end orders as you would do in magento is a definite plus. Also, there are all those bonus features that comes along with it.
Note: I have found it easier to install it with the demo structure and clean it up thereafter.
They should definitely keep this up.

Its a pretty good E-commerce software
only problem is:
it uses php short tags, which are by default not enabled in the php.ini file
next, if you plan to use it on a local machine, for testing etc.. it does not except an empty value for the database password. I had a real headache installing it
It also has php error reporting on.. which makes your site look ugly, and i cant find where you turn them off
but its a pretty good piece of software..

10-17-2009 This project looks good from the start, but the shipping modules don't work for one, the payment modules are questionable. I worked on a site development for a while to work with Eclime, hoping it would be a shortcut to get an OScommerce site with nearly everything I needed, but found it buggy and you couldn't really make updates from Oscommerce contributions because the code has been modified. Therefore, you would most likely find it easier to start with OScommerce and add the all the add-ons you need, abet that is the slower, more tedious approach. That way, you have something that is supported in the future with updates, bug fixes, and always new add-ons that can be integrated. There is good reason Oscommerce is so popular. I wasted a week of time on Eclime.

I know! I have finished two shopping systems for two friends of mine using zencart, and I had to manually install lots of addons/modules to make it the way they wanted it.
Some modules even require some extra coding. .... Then, a few months later, I find this. I wanted to hit myself! lol
This does things so much faster thanks to the smarty template!! Also, adding attributes on this is so much more convenient, and basically almost everything else too!
I'm planning to make my future shopping cart using this, and I am seriously going to convince my two friends to convert their zencart installs to this. Which should be easy, since the author has taken the time to create a zencart and OSC database convert to eclime too.
Keep this up!

I have spent all day trying to hack oscommerce to be how I want it, and then I find this. I almost spat out my tea all over my keyboard
