The Bug Genie Comments

i disagree with some comments, at least for 2.1
to create a project it is a bit complex but it is not a task that it is done everyday.
Projects are divided in several parts :the project-the build, the edition and the component.
Then, you can create a account and assign permission for a project. Optionally, you can assign the guest user to permission for some project.
But, for the customer viewpoint it is so simple as:
a) login (or use the guest account).
b) report a issue selecting a project (if there are more than one)
c) writing the kind of issue.
d) editing comments.
e) updating a file (if have permission).
f) confirming and that is.
from b) to f) is done in the same screen and it can took a few seconds to fill it.

BugGenie makes bugtracking way too challenging and complex.
What you need:
-Project
-Bug
-Description, status, assignments
-Comments
-Discussions
-Worker bees to assign things to
-name, e-mail, etc.
What you get with BugGenie is something that if I tried to make a tree like the above, it would take 5000 hours and would result in 2GB of text.
Seriously though, this will achieve what a lot of IT companies are after, bug less programs, because nobody will feel like reporting them!

I agree with Colin and AfroSoft that version 2.0 is slow due to the popup menus, javascript, and lengthy process of creating tickets. But guys, take a look at the pre-release edition of 3.0, a major overhaul and much smoother and improved UI. Love it. Can't wait for it to get released! It really looks great!

I agree with Colin, whilst nice looking I dont think it is as easy to use as it tries to be.

GREAT !
It is the best bug track/ticket system I think !
Flyspray and mantis seems very cheap regarding this one...
Waiting for 3.0 (with project management) with very impatience...

A very powerful bug tracking system.
However, the 2.0 branch has so many improvements that there are loads of bugs to iron out. The JavaScript page reload is quite useful, however it is not flawless. Also, configuring projects or adding new issues to the tracker has been made an overly difficult task.
However, the idea to integrate the help system into the actual program is a very useful feature.
When those major limitations are resolved, The Bug Genie is sure to become the most powerful issue tracking application.

It's good now, but when version 2.1 arrives I think it will be the very best bug tracking system freely available.

Overly complicated bug reporting. Ideally bug reporting should be simple and fast so as to avoid people resorting to email. This complicates it. Also while the interface is nice looking in most respects it often uses popup tooltip type menus where a simple menu will do.
